Upcoming Election: Police Levy on Millcreek’s Ballot
There will be a number of items on the November ballot. Voting will take place on November 8th from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm. Included on this year’s ballot is 2.15 mills-5-year levy for dedicated PSO or police protection for our township from the Union County Sheriff’s Department. A Public Safety Officer or PSO is a Deputy Sheriff who is also a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and a Firefighter. For Millcreek Township, the PSOs are our first responder police officers who can also supplement the existing Fire and EMS agencies until their personnel arrive on the scene. Millcreek and Jerome townships have shared dedicated PSOs for more than 10 years. Due to size differences, Jerome covers 75% of the costs and Millcreek covers 25% of the costs. This levy can only be used for paying for police protection for Millcreek Township. For more information about this levy, please feel free to contact one of the township trustees or the Sheriff’s Office.
Other local issues include a Union County 911 renewal levy and the Fairbanks LSD Bond levy. For a complete list of ballot issues, candidates, and questions regarding absentee ballots, please call the Union County Board of Elections at 937-642-2836 or visit: http://www.co.union.oh.us/Board-of-Elections/
